BANG 19: BANG of the Dead (aka Dia de los BANG, aka UDC South)

BANG 19 was a "simulcast" of a SNAP 4. (That's Seattle and Nearby Adventures in Puzzling, BANG's kindred spirits in the northern hinterlands.) It was hosted by Team GoldFish - that's Joe Fendel of the Golden Golems, and Larry Hosken and Alexandra Dixon of Mystic Fish.

Details

BANG 19 took place from 9am-5pm in Berkeley on November 1, 2008.

Getting Started

You must pre-register to play; don't just show up on game day and hope to sign up. [1]

Sign-in is at 9:00-9:30 at the Shattuck Cinemas, 2230 Shattuck Avenue Berkeley CA 94704. The first clue takes place in the theater, and we can't use that theater for long. If your team is still signing in as of 9:30, we won't wait for you—teams that are already signed in will get a "head start". To speed up signing in, you can fill out your waiver [2] ahead of time.

Each team must bring $30 to sign in and a small prize (worth about $10). At least one team member should have a mobile phone so that we can contact you in case of route changes. Players should bring writing implements, scratch paper, and writing surfaces. You might also want to bring other "office supplies": colored pencils, scissors, graph paper, tape, lights, paperclips, etc.

Boundaries

The game will take place in downtown Berkeley and the western part of U.C. Berkeley campus.

Wrapping Up

The following details are not "set in stone"; don't panic if our story has changed on game day:

At 3:30, we'll start packing up the clue sites. Teams should turn in their answer sheets at the end location by 4:00. We'll announce winners at 5:00.

Fair Warning

Be aware that there is a Cal - Oregon football game in Berkeley that day. Expect everything to be more crowded and chaotic than usual.
